Steelco Gujarat reported a significant drop in Q1 FY26 revenue, though its net loss narrowed on a yearly basis. The company's financial performance remains under pressure.

Steelco Gujarat's first-quarter earnings for FY26 present a mixed picture, with revenue falling sharply but losses showing a year-on-year improvement. The steel manufacturer continues to navigate a challenging operating environment, with its latest quarterly figures reflecting ongoing volatility in its financial performance.

The company's revenue for the quarter ended June 2025 stood at ₹0.44 crore, marking a steep 22.8% decline from the ₹0.57 crore reported in Q1 FY25. Sequentially, the drop was even more pronounced, with revenue down 80.2% from the ₹2.22 crore in the preceding March quarter. However, the net loss for the quarter was ₹4.64 crore, which is a 45.9% improvement (smaller loss) compared to the ₹3.18 crore loss in the same quarter last year. The loss did widen from the previous quarter's ₹7.71 crore.

The recent quarterly trajectory shows significant swings in both top line and bottom line.

Key Points

  • The trailing twelve-month (TTM) revenue stands at ₹5.07 crore, with a TTM loss of ₹22.0 crore.
  • The company's balance sheet shows a high debt-to-equity ratio of 2.28 and a current ratio of 0.82, indicating significant leverage and potential liquidity constraints.
  • Earnings per share (EPS) on a TTM basis is negative ₹4.83.

While the narrowing of the year-on-year loss offers a glimmer of improvement, the extreme volatility in quarterly revenue and persistent losses underscore the company's struggle for stability. The focus will be on whether the recent promoter-led revival plan can translate into more consistent sales and a sustainable path to profitability.
